My J-O-B

So, I deliver pizza for a living. I work for a pretty good pizza place and I love my job. There are some aspects that I could care less for though. Let me tell you a little bit about delivering pizzas before I tell you what I do and don't like.

Yeah, I can't think of much to tell you about delivering pizza because that itself is what I do. I take pizza from person to person in my own car with my own gas. When I get back to the store I have other responsibilities to do. If I'm the closer for the night I have to wash the dishes. Yeah, it doesn't seem hard but I have to wash every dirty dish in the store from pans and lids, to plates and bowls, cups, silverware, and much much more. If I'm a short shift for the night we have to get dough done for the next day, take the trash and boxes out, fold boxes ( which never last very long), and anything the managers ask just like any other job.

So, what it is about my job that I love? There are all kinds of things. For one, when we're super busy and everybody is acting all crazy, I get to leave. I don't have to deal with the drama and people getting mad. It's a nice little break. I get paid to leave where I work. Does it get much better than that? I also love that I get to drive my own car and listen to music. My job has taught me a lot about driving. It's made me a better driver which is really nice. I love the money...but that's what I don't like too. I'll get to that next.

What don't I like about my job? Ummm...the same things I love about it. Lol. I'm going to start with the money. I don't know if you guys know this but common courtesy is for  people to tip as a thank you for me making your life a little bit easier. You don't have to get out, you don't have to cook, everything is done for you. Isn't there a little bit of thanking due?? Maybe I'm wrong because it's what I do for a living but  I don't know. I could drone on and on about tipping but I'll save that for a later blog. Another thing I don't like is that we don't get paid mileage or anything for our gas. All expenses come out of my own pocket. That really blows! If somebody calls in, my job gets hard. We have a set number of drivers for the day and if we can't get somebody to come in for the person that calls in, we all suffer. When I say we all, I mean the remaining drivers and the customers. Most of the time this makes deliveries late and the pizza cold. If deliveries are late, there go the tips. It's a vicious cycle.

All in all though, I love my job. Everybody should have to work in the food service industry at least once in their life. It gives me empathy towards other food service workers. It gives me patience when I have to deal with pain in the ass customers (which there are more of than I would like to think). And it gives me a sense of fulfillment to make people happy, help people out, and just to have a job in general.

That's all, and all that good stuff!

Toddler and Tiaras

A mother from the show "Toddlers and Tiaras" is suing TMZ.com, The Huffington Post, and London Daily Mail for $30 million for "over sexualizing" her daughter. Isabella Barrett, only 5 years old, was at a NYC night club when a video of her singing "I'm Sexy and I Know It" by LMFAO was posted by these three websites. The video does show her sitting in the deejay booth with a celebrity deejay while the song is playing. She is also singing along. Susanna Barrett, mother of Isabella, claims that online posts show that she was forcing her daughter to sing along. She also said that the media outlets were “brazenly attempting to sexualize” the girl by “claiming she was gyrating in a nightclub and singing about her sex appeal”.The full article is here.

Call me crazy, but I think that just being on "Toddlers and Tiaras" is over sexualizing a child. Yes, I do watch the show. I watch it for entertainment purposes only. I have seen episodes where six and seven year old girls wear less clothing than Britney Spears in her hay day. I do believe in pageants but not glitz pageants. At least not for children under the age of 13. Being dressed up and made up to look like a barbie doll on a regular basis is not a good thing for a young child's self esteem. My daughter, who is almost 4, loves this show and would love to be in a glitz pageant. I just don't think I could ever do it. I could put her in a natural pageant, but she's a big girlie girl so that wouldn't be as fun for her.

So a huge question I have here is what in the world is a FIVE YEAR OLD doing in a nightclub? Seriously?? I understand that it was for some fundraiser, but if it's a fundraiser for children should it really be held in a night club? What was her mother thinking? That right there, would be enough for me to find the media outlets not guilty! A nightclub is smoky, there are drunk people mingling about doing god knows what to god knows who's hoohoo! No wonder why they sites claimed she was gyrating! She was probably just mimicking what every adult around her was doing.

As for the show "Toddlers and Tiaras", I feel most of the parents are just living out their childhood fantasy. They're exploiting their children for the most part. There are a couple of kids who actually seem to be enjoying what they are doing, but most of them aren't the girls featured on the show.

Based on what we know from this little bit of information, I don't think the mother should win the suit. If I was in the jury I would certainly laugh at her. She put her daughter in these clothes, in the spotlight, and this is what happens. Yeah, the media outlets should leave a five year old little girl alone, but they were just doing what they get paid to do, make stories about celebrities out of nothing.

It's Friday Right?

This week has gone by super fast. I can't really remember much of it except for yesterday and today. No, I wasn't drinking or doing drugs to forget it. Lol. It just wasn't an eventful week except for those days. Thursday caused a lot of stress in my little world. And I'm pretty sure I did awful on my first college algebra test today. Math causes me a lot of problems. Why would a restaurant manager (which is what I think I want to be, at least for now) need to know the equation of a line or how to find an equation of a circle given just the diameter?? Beats me!! MOSO says we need to know college algebra  if we're majoring in business. I think they need to figure out that people shouldn't be required to take a math class that isn't going to help them in any way!

Well, on the bright side of this week, some good friends of mine had a beautiful baby boy. I love babies! They're amazing little people. They're just so cute and cuddly and they can't talk! I love that they can't talk. When they do learn to talk all they ever do is argue with you about things and say no. No, I'm just kidding. Toddlers are awesome; sometimes.

This blog wasn't going to be a rant of anything but I needed to get that off my chest. Hopefully the weekend looks up for me. I work all weekend, but Saturday night is a much needed date night with B! We're gonna go to the casino and then eat. Can't wait. Hopefully you all have a lovely weekend also. =). Oh, and one last thing, I learned to not wait until Friday to do my blog posts. I'm going to have to work on that procrastination problem of mine!

Hello!

Soooo, I'm starting a blog. Never thought those words would be typed from my own fingers!

Well, my name is Chloe and I'm in my third year at Southern. I have a beautiful little girl who will be four this year. For this blog I'm going to refer to her as T. She's a handful, but I wouldn't expect any less from her! I work at a pizza place and I've worked there for four years. I'll probably be talking about this pizza place a lot so I'm going to refrain from naming it! I don't want there to be any trouble if co-workers or bosses were to happen to stumble upon my crazy blog somehow.

I'm not a girlie girl but some aspects of my life are. I absolutely adore the color pink, high heels, and Marilyn Monroe. I have more heels then I wear but they make me happy so I'll keep buying them! I work a lot. When I'm not working I like to be around people I care about. My family and friends keep me sane! I have a wonderful boyfriend that I've been with for two years. I'm going to call him B. I really enjoy sleeping as any person in their early 20's does. That's probably what you could find me doing if  I'm not working or with my daughter.

I could keep on going but I'll have more time for that during the semester. We'll see what direction this blog takes together. I don't really know how I feel about it so it could end up any way!

See ya later and all that good stuff! =)
