Insert Witty Title Here

Woahhh...two posts in one day. Crazy right. Especially for me at this time of the year. But that's exactly why I'm here. I'm the most unorganized messy person ever. Y'all I need help. I'm not worried about the messy but the organization-less is killing me!

I've worked 7 days in a row and tomorrow will be 8. Saturday and Sunday I'm off. Thank goodness. And with the crazy work schedule and having online classes, the little bit of brain space used to be kind of organized has disappeared.

So my question is what the hell do you guys do to stay organized? I have a planner but I can't get myself to write in it. Shit, I have two of them. I'll have a day where I'll grab a paper and write down my to do list. But when that happens it's rare. I carry two planners in my purse, I have a paper calendar in my room. Is there anyway to get me to write in them?

I have two swaps I'm participating in, my work schedule, the little had a Christmas program tonight, Saturday is boyfriend's dirty thirty, there was a work party this week, I need to buy Christmas presents, I need to buy birthday presents. And who knows what else I have that I've forgotten about right now.

except it's all on my bed. I can't sleep on the damn thing.

What are your ideas? How do I keep my head above water?? Lemme know!

Start with Google calendar. It has a simple yet elegant interface, and works as a calendar and task manager. Download an app to your phone that syncs with Google Calendar (there are dozens- I can help you if you like), then do the same thing with your ipad. That way any entry you make in one will be displayed in the other two. Simple, comprehensive, and as long as you are in a room with your computer, your phone, or your ipad you have your schedule with you, but don't have to drag around a daytimer.

I swear by lists. I have planners, note pads, journals, etc in my car, purse, room - everywhere. I use my phone sometimes too, but I'm a bigger fan of actually writing it all down. If you already have the tools, you just need to utilize them! Take 5 minutes at the beginning of your day to write down what needs to get done. Separate them by "What needs to get done TODAY" and "What needs to get done by end of week" or whatever deadline you want to set for yourself. I'm telling you - LIST IT UP. It works if you work it!

girl, you need google calendar. sync that with your phone and you're golden.

i share it with my hubs and each of our "events" are color coded so we know when the other will be out/has plans.

Do you use apple products? icalendar is how I keep track of our stuff - and even then I still forget (like the dentist on Monday at 8 AM. That didn't happen).

I'm not good at organization either. When my husband met me I was sleeping on my couch because my bed was piled high with stuff that needed to be put away! HAHAH My philosophy was that while cleaning I could put stuff on my bed and KNOW that I would HAVE to put it away in order to go to sleep. Nope. I chose the couch. lol For a long time.

I have become much better at organizing and my advice is: It takes practice sprinkled with discipline. Start small, with one thing you want to be better organized at, and keep that up. Then add another. My rule of thumb, for the house, is always have one room that is in orderly connection so I can always have a place to relax. Usually this is the living room.

There are lot of great blogs out there with tips too. That's how I learned about the home management binder and that helped me a ton - even though i don't currently use it. It was a great starting point!

All this to say, I FELL YOU GIRL!! Organization is NOT my thing either! :) Let us know what works for you! I hope my comments help.
