'MERICA'S Team

I don't know a lot about sports, but I do know that the greatest football team of NFL history is the Dallas Cowboys.

Why you ask?

Because my daddy said so. That's why

Seriously though, Sundays were spent watching Emmet, Dion, and Troy kick some ass. I still remember those Sundays like they weren't that long ago. He'd make lil' smokies and cheese dip. It was great.
When I was little, all I wanted to be was a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader. There's something so fascinating about them. And those girls work hard. Have you ever watched their show on CMT? Nothing but hard work. I remember when I found out that I was too short, I was devastated. But I still love them.

And then there was that first time I went to the new Stadium. I was in awe. And how about the next time I went to the stadium and got to be outside of the cheerleader's locker room? That was my peak. I'm pretty sure it's all downhill from there. And I stood on the stadium floor, where a player has stood. I'm sure of it. It may have not been field but it was close enough for me.

Hopefully this will be the year that I get to go to my first ever NFL game. I have high hopes.

And if you argue with me you're also arguing with Venus, and you know you don't wanna do that.

Venus Trapped in Mars

and of course... #backthatazzup Friday!

This Is Country Music

I just got done watching Healing in the Heartland and my heart is so full right now. I can't imagine how I would be feeling if we hadn't gotten the tickets we tried so hard for. I love country music. I love country musicians. I was going to write this post for awhile now, but I have so many posts I need to write so I didn't know when. And today feels right.

Country music is more than "I lost my wife, dog, truck...etc." I know most of you won't believe me, but it really truly is. You're asking what is it then right? Well

Country Music Is
fun
believing
healing
family
friends
home

Yes, for me, country music is home. My earliest memories of this genre are recording a vhs (remember those) with country videos from CMT at my dad's house. Then dancing around to them with my little sisters. It's a family get together with the radio on. It's a good time. I love my memories of country music. Dancing with my little sisters, Keith, Kenny, Sugarland, Eric, Luke, FLAGA Line, Thompson Square, Eli Young Band, Miranda, Blake and the countless other's I've seen. It's even the classics (at least to me) Johnny, Shania, Trace, King George, Brooks and Dunn,Garth, Dolly, Reba and more. This article talks about what country music is and how it started.

*all quotes from here, click to see more*

I can't imagine not being a country fan. These artists are so down to earth. They are humble and proud. The music is more than partying, sex, and drugs. Although, there is some of that, you'll get more. I can't even put into words what I'm thinking. I just want you to give it a chance. And please, for the sake of country music, don't try and listen to Taylor Swift, that's not country. Listen to a song as you're sitting outside on a warm summer night. Listen to the words and how they probably fit exactly what you're doing/thinking/feeling right at the moment. I mean one of the most popular blogger shows right now is about country music. Yeah, Nashville is more drama than I like to think of when I hear my jams, but it really is about country music deep down. Basically what I'm saying is...I wouldn't be me if I didn't have country music. I love it. Yep. That's it cupcakes. Love it!

I'm Smiling

I'm smiling today.

I'm smiling because

- It's my one day off this week
- I start server training tomorrow!!!!!!
- Cortney nominated me for a Liebster Award.
- Meg nominated me for a Liebster Award.
- Apparently I'm doing something right here because people like me.
- I get to see Great Gatsby today. Everbody in my family knows how much I love the 20's.
Parties, the clothes, the sparkles, ahhhh. And how much I love Leo.

Side story time...In the elementary school I went to, they always had 100 day. It was always the 100th day of school. The teachers always made us do something to commemorate the 100th day of school. Some kids glued 100 buttons to poster board, others did marshmallows, well, my daddy and I glued 100 different pictures of Leo to my poster board. Yep. And he never even stuttered a word about how a third grader shouldn't do that. He supported it!

Just like this, but way cooler.

Anyway...told you side story. Of course today I'm going to accept my awards from the fabulous ladies above!

I know this is long. But there are some funny facts about me. Just saying.

The Way It Works

Acknowledge the blog that nominated you
Tell 11 facts about yourself
Answer the 11 questions the nominating blogger created
List 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers that you believe deserve some recognition
Post 11 questions for them to answer
Notify them that they've been nominated
You can't nominate the blog that nominated you

(I just copy and pasted that from Cortney. I'm lazy like that)

Even though I was nominated twice I'm only listing 11 facts. I have to save something interesting for you guys when my mind goes blank!

1. I'm a south paw. Yeah, a leftie. And I love it.
2. I cry over almost any movie. Animal ones are the worst.
3. I hate change. I just changed my lock screen for the first time in 2 years today.

I don't really like ice cream. I know...I know. But when a craving hits about once a year, it's chocolate. Any kind but brownie batter is amazeballs.

Failing. Hands down.

9. Besides mine (wink), who's blog do you read the moment you wake up?

10. What's your biggest pet peeve?

A Boozy Haze

Good morning cupcakes! Hope you all had a wonderful three day weekend. I had a wonderful 1 day weekend and I plan on showing you all the wonderful pictures from it.

My Wife and I hadn't seen each other since the Kenny concert and she missed me. Ok, I missed her too, but I decided that we were going to our local casino, DownStream, for their brunch buffet. That shit was the bomb. I had a legit food baby all day because I ate too much.

This is also how I ended up passed out by 8:30. More about that later.

Arriving

They have a quesadilla/omelette station. Guys, that's a big deal for the podunk town I live in.

Unexpected chocolate lava cake. But it was sooooo good.
Don't even get me started on the dessert bar.

This may have you fooled, it's not just oj. It's a mimosa. In the largest glass in the history of ever. Around here, people apparently don't know what a mimosa is, or what glass it should come in. I asked if it was normal for them to come in a glass like this, the lady said she wasn't sure what kind of glass I'd like it in. Weird huh. Not one to turn away extra booze, I drank it like a champ. And I soon spent the rest of my Sunday in a boozy haze.

If my eyes don't give it away, I don't know what does.

Had to try these babies. They're just ok. I'll stick to the regular ones. But it did help my booze induced haze.

And then, I was out at 8:30. Sleeping like a baby. And it was wonderful.

Born to be Famous

I haven't done Friday's Letters in awhile so I thought that's what I'd do for today! Let's just get to it.

Dear Work, I'm really happy you guys have decided to let me serve but really disappointed with the fact that we hired that girl. I guess I'll put on my big girl panties and deal with it though. I have no choice.

Dear Weekend, It's Memorial Day weekend and I hope to go visit those I've lost. It will be therapeutic. Also, I work doubles Friday and Saturday but I'm off on Sunday. That never happens.

Dear Not-So-Little Girl, I love you so much. I'm gonna miss you while you're gone with your grammy. I know you'll have fun though. Unfortunately our summer visitation schedule starts and I have to share you more than I'm used to. Womp womp.

she picked her own outfit...born to be famous, yes she is

Dear Customers, You've been assholes lately. Please stop. I don't understand why you get offended at a table I seat you at. And then when I offer you a different table you get your panties in a wad and huff and puff "no, this is fine." Whatever.

Dear Blake, I'm so happy you got a job! And it's one that you want. I know you'll do great because you're you. And you're really good at sales/telemarketing. I love you. Also, I'm sorry about Max. I know you loved him so much. I just don't know what to say.

Dear Trixie, Little dog, I love the shit out of you. However, I told you not to get used to Mimi being home all day. That she was gonna get a job. And you got used to it and ignored me all the time. RUDE. But you're coming back around now. You're my best friend. True story. And I miss cuddling with you.

Dear Blog Loves, Happy Friday!! Thanks for being here for me all the time. You're too sweet. And I love you guys. Reading blogs is the best time suck ever. True story.

Photobucket

And since I'm blogging on a Friday for the first time in like ever...of course I have to link up to Whitty's #backthatazzup Friday

I've been obsessing over this song for like a week now. I know it's not new, but right now I can't get enough of it. Have you ever looked up the lyrics? Shit is all over the place!

People Suck

I always have the highest page views on days I don't blog. Guys, this is a bad thing! How come more people don't come visit when I actually post something? Huh, huh, Why?? Who knows. I'm beginning to think I suck at this blog thing. So many things I want to do but so much I don't. Woof. Sad face. Womp womp. Alright, enough pity party for me.

Things are going pretty good right now. I found out that my manager wants to hire two more hosts and then cross train me to serve!! I'm super pumped about that. That's all I've wanted to do since I started at the good ol' OG (Olive Garden if you're new here). Catch is, they actually have to be good hosts. The last few we've hired have been terrible. Terrible at the easiest job in the world. I know, I shouldn't judge, but damn, it's not as hard as these people make it out to be. It's a mentally challenging job. That's for sure.

My madre and Blake both got new jobs too! I'm super happy for them. They both need it.

But I have one shitty thing running through my mind right now. See, I don't have drama. And I know people that say that normally do, but seriously, I don't. I don't do anything or hangout with people so...no drama for this lady. But right now, I kinda do. A seriously shady girl that I know, messaged me the other night and asked if there was any beef between us because she seriously needs a job. Another "friend" of mine told her we were hiring and she wanted to make sure it was cool if we worked together. Bitch, listen here, if you have to ask somebody if it's ok to work with them, then it's probably not a good idea. Right? And how dare her put it on me that she's "desperate" for a job. You're a grown ass woman. If you need a job that bad I don't think that a person should be in the way of stopping you. I won't go into why this girl and I don't really get a long because it's not really about me. But she hurt a lot of people around me in really fucked up ways. There are only two people in this entire world that I would freak out about. And she is one of them. But I was an adult and said "yeah, it's fine" thinking you know, it wasn't the nicest sounding message so maybe she won't do it. Lo and behold, bitch had an interview and was there when I got to work today. I freaked out - full panic attack style kids. It's bad. Luckily, I held it together enough that none of the managers or other employees saw my freak out. But it sure felt like it was way out there. I finally broke down and told a manager that I don't care if they hire her, but I would prefer not to be in the same training class and around her. I had to. I was trying so hard to not be drama and not say anything. But I need to be comfortable at work. It's my job too. She has another interview to go through so maybe she won't get hired, but I had to say something now. I know this all sounds like rambling mumbo jumbo but I feel better getting it out there.

And for the "friend" who knows that the girl and I aren't really besties, well, I no longer consider her a friend. I don't know how a friend does that to somebody else. She knows what went down with this girl and the people she fucked over. And she knows she's not really a person that I like to be around. "Friend" is supposed to be really good friends with Blake and by doing this, we both learned that she's not who we thought she was.

And that's my rant for today. I know that I haven't been doing the blog every day in May thing but this fits perfectly right now. Have a good day cupcakes! Love your faces.

Heavy Heart

I actually had a really fun post planned for today. However, after yesterday's events I just didn't feel right talking about my fun vacation.

My Auntie lives right outside of Moore. To get to Norman you go OK City, Moore, then Norman. I've been through Moore many many times. I'm glad that she doesn't live there today. I was so scared for her. Yesterday there was a small tornado in Norman, luckily it was on the other side of town

As somebody who lives 15 minutes away from Joplin, I know first hand how scary these storms are. I know what it's like to know somebody who was a survivor of that tornado. And I know how hard it is for these people to start over. They've lost so much. Home, clothing, yes possessions are just possessions and you can always get more but what about those possessions that are special and can't be replaced. Pictures. That's my biggest fear during these storms. I only have a select few baby pictures of Teagan because some asshole stole my memory card. And I grab those photo albums every time the sirens go off. And that's often.

Anyway, this isn't about me. This is about survivors. This is for the strong people of Moore who will rebuild and who will become closer to each other. They will be a community again. I'm asking you to help if you can. Remember yesterday's post about those that helped my aunt? This is how I plan on passing it forward. I will do whatever I can.

I pray for those families who have lost their poor babies. I pray for those who have lost friends and family. I can't imagine what it's like. I honestly don't want to know. And right now, what I'm really praying for is that my auntie's best friend who lives in Moore gets in contact to tell her she's ok. That's what I really want. And I literally jut got the text that my aunt has heard from her!

This is all I've got today. Please keep Oklahoma in your thoughts.

And because who doesn't love 21 Jump Street and this is true

Give Thanks

So I've been cruising around blogland and I've realized that Spring/Summer makes everybody absent from there blogs. It's kinda crazy. We all get so busy and don't have time to blog but we all miss it so much. If only I was an organized person I could probably plan and type out my posts. But what fun would that be? It's 12:21 am Friday night/Saturday morning. And I'm going to write about my vacation some more.

I learned something while I was gone. I learned that there are some hateful people out there, but more of them are so kind hearted and self-less.

And today I want to gossip about some ladies. Not bad gossip though! Read on!

See, in between Eric and Kenny we had to pee. And the bathroom line on our level was waaaay to long. So I grabbed the wife and Kyla (who needs a nickname) and we trekked it up 3 levels up hill the whole way. It was the longest walk of my life. All just to go pee. We finally made it outside to the less full bathroom. Which, I must say is where the awesome pictures of me were taken! I don't know how long we were gone. To me it was 10 minutes, to my aunt it was 45. Not once did one of us think to look at our phones. But then I heard somebody say Kenny is coming on now. And I though "Self, get your drunk ass back in and get to your aunt. She wants to see him and is waiting for you!!!!" And so off we went. I don't remember the walk back, but oh well. But I remember when we got back down there that the sand bar was PACKED. It was bad. We think that they stopped looking at bracelets because my aunt has been in the sand bar before and has NEVER seen that many people down there. Unfortunately because of our pee break, we lost our awesome seats standing spot. People had pushed their way through and my auntie just didn't wanna deal with it. I don't blame her. But now, I felt like shit. I felt that it was my fault that we weren't close. Mind you I was drinking so I wasn't really thinking. Just feeling. lmao. I don't really know how things started out but something amazing happened. We told people about my aunt's story. Everything she has gone through and how this concert was something that she really wanted to do. And people started letting her go through to the very front. They were being so selfless and it was amazing. It first started with a mother and daughter. Tiffany and Kim Schwartz.
Terrible picture but ya know.

They understood because Tiffany's (the daughter) best friend passed away from cancer. These women were absolutely wonderful. I couldn't thank them enough and I don't think I will be able to. I did find Tiffany on fb and told her about this post. So Tiffany, if you're reading this, thank you times 56651341. You and your mother have a wonderfully kind spirit. Your best friend is so proud of you guys. Again, thank you.

Then there was another group of girls. And they were amazing too! Alisha Cole and Alaina Lansing. These girls rock! They passed the message on as well. There were people in front of us who were really really hateful and didn't want to let us up front with my aunt. We didn't care, but these girls encouraged and helped us get to her. They didn't let some ol' bitties stop us. And you girls, I can't thank you enough either.

*not my picture*

I know that I will always remember what these ladies have done for my family. And next time I'll pay it forward and do something for somebody else. Because of these beautiful ladies.

We all know that I love me some tequilla. And if you don't know...well now you do. I love it and it makes me happy happy happy. This weekend I consumed tequila. A lot of it. I pregamed with it, then had huge margs. HUGE.

Double fisting at its finest.

More beer...

And more beer and margs. And I had no idea she was doing that!

Oops...

And my personal favorite. It was just time to lay down. At least I threw up a peace sign. lol.

I love parties and drinking. And this was sooo much fun!

Day 1

Hey cupcakes. I miss you. I've been busy getting back to life since my vacation. I'm so behind on blog reading too. Woof.

I know that I have enough material for the week but I can't decide what to talk about on what day. Hmmph.

I'll just start from the beginning. Wife and I left on Friday afternoon to start our journey. We did really well until we got stuck in traffic. I figured it was just OKC 5 o'clock traffic, but there was actually a car accident. That shit looked rough. But we made it!!! And I only had to use my gps once. And I don't even know why I did because I've been to my auntie's enough times I should know how to get there.

She's a princess. Don't argue, you won't win.

After we got there we hung out and lugged our 646648945 bags in. Mind you this was only a 4 day trip. We don't pack lightly. I don't think we know how. After we visited for awhile it was time for dinner! My favorite. lol. We went to BJ's which is a brewhouse. I'd never been to a brewery before so I was excited. That shiz is HUGE!! And it was commencement night for OU so they were even busier than normal. I knew that since I was at a brewery I had to have some beer, and not budlight. I wasn't sure what kind I wanted so they let me sample 3 of them.

From left to right
Lightswitch Lager
Brewhouse Blonde
Jeremiah Red

Jeremiah Red was the winner. It's like an Irish Ale and I really enjoyed it!

I even went and out did myself and did OOFD. I don't EVER do those. It's kinda crazy. Unfortunately I can't post the pic because I deleted it but you can check it out here.

The girls.

After that it was time to go home. The next day was Dallas/Kenny day!!

What A Weekend

Ahhhhhh!!!! I had a fabuous weekend but it went by so fast and I don't wanna go back to work tomorrow. Sad face. I know that I said last week that I hate doing weekend reviews and I really do, but this weekend has to have one. Actually, it will probably be reviewed all week. I promise not to go on about the same stuff over and over though. =)

We had a fabulous time! I don't think I've ever had a girl's weekend and this one just set the bar for the rest of them. I don't even know what I want to write about today so I'll just show you some pictures.

Wife, Myself, Auntie at BJ's Brewery

There's a lot more where this came from. Fun stories, embarrassing pictures, all kinds of stuff!

Come back tomorrow!
